About Us

SIS was founded on February 2, 2008, by five African-American women who understand and recognize the financial struggles of families with college students and the importance of a student’s financial independence after graduation.  The core membership of SIS consists of a group of young, African-American, Christian women whose friendships with one another have spanned several decades.  Each core member attended college and recognizes the financial struggles families face with college students and the importance of a student’s financial independence post graduation.  SIS also recognizes the importance of exposing our youth to life lessons and challenges as they prepare for and endure college life. We have given away 21 Scholarships in three years.

“When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them.   Always be eager to practice hospitality.”
